I’m so excited to make these this weekend! I am not able to eat corn (or potato) at the moment, and I was wondering if you have a recommendation for a different starch that might work as a substitute that would yield a similar texture.
Hmmmm good question! Have you ever seen wheat starch? You can normally buy that at Asian markets! I’m a little afraid of tapioca starch in this recipe but maybe 1 tbsp is enough to help bind without changing the texture too much!
Ok,I made this for dinner tonight and it received the highest praise from my 4 and 6 year olds. “Can we have this again tomorrow?”
Yay! I love to hear that!! They are so good!!!
Oh this looks delicious!!
I know we already discussed on IG but this really looks so good. But for posterity, just reiterating, YUM.

I’ve got wheat starch! I made your har gow recipe so I’ve got lots of starches in my pantry now. Thank you!!
i’ve been baking a lot! 5 spelt sesame sourdough loaves in the past week :)
Nothing wrong with lots of loaves!
Made this tonight and had such a hard time with the patties! I wonder why it was so hard to keep the shape…
They also reminded me of a few different shrimp dishes 💕 I’m tempted to just use fish cake when I’m feeling lazy one day!
What is that cabbage salad? Can tell there’s mayo but not much else, looks like a great side
