Thank you for another great tasty post because I think they’re perfect before dinner. So, I was at H MART recently and had this important question for Spring Roll wrapper. On the grocery shelf, they’re designating wrappers for “frying.” I’ve never seen this before. Are you purchasing wrappers exclusively for frying on the recipe? Does it matter?

Enjoy your time in Canada, lots of fun!!!

Best regards,

Millette

Hmmm I haven’t seen that designation before. Most wraps can be fried. Sometimes people get confused between wheat based spring roll wraps and rice paper wraps, but again both can be fried.

So the ground pork just cooks as part of the filling while you are frying the packets, is that correct? No pre-cooking it?

Correct! That’s how it goes for dumplings, spring rolls, and buns too.

could you use fresh shitake mushrooms in place of the dried? these look like a fantastic weekend project this week!

You can! I would sauté fresh ones in some oil to get some color and flavor out of them first!

I just made these but used the baking method you recommend for spring rolls because I didn’t have the hands on time to fry them—they weren’t as pretty but they still crisped up nicely and were very tasty.

I had a shrimp-chive pocket version of this when I was Shanghai and it was heavenly!! So glad you shared this because we need to make this go as viral as the regular spring roll
